His latest project is a takeover of Vogue India, his twelfth Vogue takeover. Photographing naked supermodels? Travelling endlessly across the globe? Creating iconic ad campaigns for (to name but a few) Gucci, Burberry, Versace and Chanel? In the great sweetshop of life, Testino, 62, most definitely didn’t pick the fuzzy end of the lollipop. Although to be fair, it is the best job in the world. Fashion photographers have a reputation for being professionally jaded, so it’s pleasing to note that, even after 35 years at the top of his game, Mario Testino is still enthralled and enthused by his job.
